Founded in 1990 by nationally acclaimed home designer Jay Summers, American Heritage Homes has become a leading award-winning home builder in North Carolina. Jay Summers began his career in designing and home building in 1983 as a regional manager for Pacific Scene, a nationally ranked developer and home builder. He graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. While managing projects for Pacific Scene, Summers earned recognition for outstanding designs of premier residential communities, built on environmentally sensitive hillside locations. The success of his homes during the 1980s was demonstrated time and again with top selling neighborhoods in many of the nation's most competitive housing markets. In 1989, Summers recognized the tremendous demand in the greater Raleigh area for home designs that featured more open designs and "high volume ceilings." By this time, he was senior vice president of Pacific Scene, but the economic diversity and growth potential of the Triangle area attracted him and his family away from the California coast.
